Guillaume Lesage
Guillaume Lesage est né à Québec, Québec, en 1986. Il est diplômé de l'Université Laval en 2008 avec un B.Sc. en géologie. Dans le cadre de son baccalauréat, il a réalisé un projet de premier cycle au Tibet sous la direction du Dr Réjean Hébert. Là, il a étudié la géochimie des intrusions miocènes dans la zone de suture du Yarlung Zangbo. Pendant ses études à l'Université Laval, il a été président du chapitre étudiant de l'INRS-Laval SEG. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, il a travaillé comme géologue d'exploration à Timmins, en Ontario, à la recherche de nickel dans les péridotites et les komatiites de la ceinture de roches vertes de l'Abitibi.
Guillaume a commencé sa maîtrise en sciences à l'Université de l'Alberta à l'automne 2008 sous la supervision du Dr Jeremy Richards. Ses recherches portent sur un gisement d'or situé près de la communauté de Buritic, à environ 75 km au nord-ouest de Medellín (Colombie) et à environ 5 km à l'ouest du système de failles de Romeral, dans le département d'Antioquia. Les objectifs sont de déterminer
- L'âge de la minéralisation, sa paragenèse, la source et la température du fluide minéralisant
- L'âge et la géochimie des roches intrusives et volcaniques trouvées dans la zone d'étude
- L'âge des altérations potassiques et phylliques.
L'objectif de ce travail d'analyse est de construire un modèle expliquant la formation du gisement aurifère du Buritique. Les connaissances requises comprennent l'âge et la géochimie des roches fraîches et les altérations associées aux filons minéralisés; la source, la salinité, la pression et la température du fluide de minéralisation ; la séquence paragénétique dans les veines ; et les relations transversales entre les lithologies. Cette étude est importante pour comprendre l'évolution métallogénique menant à la formation du gisement aurifère de Buritic. Les résultats seront utilisés pour construire un cadre d'exploration minérale applicable à l'ensemble de la zone de suture Romeral.
