M.C.F. Eric and Elsie Kossatz Scholarship for Applied Mineralogical
Research
This scholarship was created in honour of Eric and Elsie Kossatz, who dedicated
their careers to the broad field of applied mineralogy in various capacities. The objective is to promote the science of applied mineralogical research in Canada. Priority will be given to applicants that are MAC members.

Terms of reference
$3000 total (split as follows: $1500 as a student stipend and $1500
for research; receipts of analytical work are expected to be presented to MAC)
Eligibility
4th year undergraduate and MSc. students enrolled at a recognized Canadian
university or institute of higher education for excellence in one of the specialties supported by the Mineralogical Association of Canada (Applied mineralogical research)
Evaluation Criteria
Complete applications from eligible candidates will be judged based on:
- their letter of support;
- the quality of their application;
- 1 page proposal on how the project and proposed research fit the broad context of applied mineralogy
To Apply
Submit the application form and a CV along with a signed letter of support from your supervisor. Include a 1 page proposal, which must explain how the project and proposed research fit the broad context of applied mineralogy (examples: from tailings, environmental, mineral processing
and metallurgy, industrial mineralogy)
Applications and supervisor/referee letters of support may be sent electronically or in the mail, and must be received by October 1, 2026.
Academic transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) must be received by October 15th.

A subcommittee of the MAC Council will review all proposals received by October 1st. The MAC Council reserves the right to make no awards.
