M.Sc., Ph.D. and Post-Doc positions in Critical Mineral research at the University of Manitoba

The Department of Earth Sciences, University of Manitoba is seeking talented and motivated graduate students, and young researchers to join our vibrant research community. Funding is available to support several M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and post-doctoral researchers. Projects include Critical Mineral research (primarily Li in igneous systems). This work is in partnership with academic partner Lakehead University, and industry partners Grid Metals and New Age Metals. Competitive stipend and funding support for qualified candidates (MSc $27,000, PhD $35,000, Post-doc $70,000).
About the Project:
Our research project aims to evaluate the critical element potential of the less-studied Li-rich pegmatites in Manitoba, and combine field work with isotopic analysis to develop exploration models for critical mineral deposits in Manitoba. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in critical mineral deposits.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews and background research
- Fieldwork (mapping, field measurements)
- Laboratory analytical work- collect and analyze data
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Present findings at conferences and publish results in academic journals
Qualifications:
- BSc, MSc or PhD in Earth Sciences
- Strong research skills and analytical abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to research excellence
