Applications of Laser-Ablation ICP-MS Analysis: A Tribute to Henry P. Longerich – The Canadian Mineralogist Vol. 41, part 2
Applications of Laser-Ablation ICP-MS Analysis: A Tribute to Henry P. Longerich is a special issue honouring Henry P. Longerich, one of the pioneers of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and a driving force behind the development of laser-ablation ICP-MS (LA-ICP-MS) for geological applications. Published in recognition of his influential career at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), the volume brings together contributions from leading researchers demonstrating the expanding capabilities of LA-ICP-MS in mineralogy, geochemistry, ore deposits, environmental studies, and isotope analysis. The issue highlights both the technological advances and the wide-ranging scientific applications of a technique that revolutionized in situ trace-element analysis in the Earth sciences. The first papers in the volume originated from a special session held in Longerich's honour and reflect his central role in establishing analytical protocols, calibration methods, and instrumentation that became international standards.
