Lamprophyres and Related Rocks - Layered Intrusions – The Canadian Mineralogist Vol. 26, part 1

Lamprophyres and Related Rocks – Layered Intrusions presents two special collections of papers examining the origin and evolution of unusual mantle-derived magmas and the processes operating within large magma chambers. The first section, dedicated to Lamprophyres and Related Rocks, was assembled in memory of Canadian petrologist Sharon L. Werner Bachinski and features international contributions on alkaline igneous rocks, including lamprophyres, lamproites, ultrapotassic magmas, and related mantle-derived rock types. These studies explore the petrogenesis, geochemistry, mineralogy, and tectonic significance of some of the Earth's most distinctive magmatic rocks. The second section, Layered Intrusions, focuses on the structure and evolution of layered igneous complexes, addressing topics such as magma chamber processes, crystal accumulation, magmatic convection, platinum-group element mineralization, and the formation of layered rock sequences. Together, the two collections provide a broad overview of contemporary research into magmatic systems from mantle source regions to crustal magma chambers.
